Graphite Crucible Usage Standards

1. Pre-installation Preparation

1.1 Inspect the inner walls and bottom of the crucible furnace to ensure they are intact and undamaged. 

1.2 Check for any residual slag inside the furnace; if present, remove it promptly.

2. Selecting the Correct Crucible Base

2.1 The crucible base should match the shape of the crucible bottom and be slightly larger in size (by approximately 2 cm). 

2.2 Select a base of the appropriate height for the specific type of crucible furnace being used. 

2.3 Avoid using worn-out or discarded bases, as this will significantly shorten the crucible's service life.

3. Crucible Installation and Securing

3.1 Installing crucibles for gas or oil-fired furnaces: Place the crucible on the base, ensuring sufficient clearance for thermal expansion between the crucible and the top of the furnace wall; 

use materials such as wooden blocks or cardboard to secure it in place. Adjust the burner and nozzle positions so the flame is directed into the combustion chamber, not directly at the 

crucible bottom. 

3.2 Installing crucibles for tilting furnaces: Use support bricks on both sides of the pouring spout to secure the crucible, ensuring it is not wedged too tightly. 

Place a 3–4 mm layer of cardboard or similar material between the support bricks and the crucible to allow for thermal expansion. 

3.3 Installing crucibles for electric furnaces: Place the crucible in the center of the resistance furnace, ensuring the bottom of the crucible sits above the lowest row of heating elements. 

Seal the gap between the top of the crucible and the furnace rim using insulation wool. 

3.4 Installing crucibles for induction furnaces: Ensure the crucible is positioned in the center of the induction coil to prevent localized overheating and cracking.
